About Us

Stone Fox Farm Creamery was founded in 2009 by Bruce and Kathy Chamberlain. With their two children out of the house and retirement on the horizon, the Chamberlains were ready to fulfill their dream of making and selling super premium Maine ice cream.

While all of the Chamberlains share a strong love of ice cream, it was Bruce who had long been interested in producing the sweet treat. Ever since his father Melvin Chamberlain worked for Sealtest Dairy, Bruce had wanted to one day to start his own ice cream company. The Chamberlains eventually made that life-long dream a reality when they purchased a Carpigiani batch freezer and started making ice cream in their small home-factory in Monroe, Maine (in early 2020 they moved to a new location in Searsport, Maine).

From the very beginning, the Chamberlains were committed to using natural, locally-sourced ingredients whenever possible. From milk and cream supplied by two local dairies to hand-picked raspberries provided by a neighbor to pure maple syrup from a nearby sugar house, supporting other Maine businesses has always been a priority.

Over time, the Chamberlains have perfected Stone Fox Farm’s method of creating extremely creamy and flavorful ice cream using premium, all-natural ingredients. With over thirty flavors (some of which are seasonal) in their repertoire, Stone Fox Farm has something for everyone. Indeed, word of their delicious ice cream has spread, and their product can be found from Downeast Maine all the way to Portland and just about everywhere in between at more than fifty locations. And be sure to keep an eye out for their bright red truck (aka Mobile Cone) and fleet of ice cream trailers as they head to a variety of fairs, farmers’ markets, festivals, and other special events around the region!

The steady increase in demand for Stone Fox Farm’s ice cream has allowed the Chamberlains to expand over the last couple of years, and they have been able to build to a larger factory, purchase a second truck, and hire additional staff, putting more Mainers to work and contributing to a more robust local economy. In fact, Bruce and Kathy continually strive to make improvements to their business by participating in opportunities like the Big Gig, Top Gun and Scale-up.
